*These public computers suck, so let's pretend I'm linking to a post as Retasu pulls one up. It involves a shaky security camera view of a pool and a younger Retasu in a middle school uniform. She looks scared, shaking... and glows green, like she did before. But this time, the place is now covered in fog. The water rises up from the pool.

Retasu winces as she watches her younger self direct the water at an unseen person coming in to investigate; she shuts the video off.*

[He watches in silence, lifting a hand to adjust his tie thoughtlessly. Impressive ability, he had to admit. How strong was it? That was the only real question.]

...I see. I wonder why it was different this time.

I think something might have been... added, on top of what I could already do? But I'm not sure how, unless Scratch-san somehow did something to me.

I wonder if that would be enough to render this inevitable eventuality a safe enterprise. In the end, it may spark something entirely different to your intentions.

A noble intention, but your execution was flawed. As long as you continue to act without knowing what you are handling, no amount of protection will keep you from reaching the same conclusion over and over.

On top of that, the person they are seeking to keep you from is a being who is of considerable power. The question is whether these protections will keep him from you. And whether you will deign to trust him or not.

Consider this. If two people exist, and only one takes advantage of the options open to them, which future do you believe would be the most meaningful? Although both people may follow the same road, they will inevitably end in different places.
